Budget

The Clerk’s budget is generally split between two basic categories: court activities and non-court activities.

Court activities are funded by the State using a complicated system. However, this system can be described as: all money collected for fees, fines, court costs, and service charges on the court side of the office is given to the State, and the State decides how much of that money to return to the Clerk’s office to fund our court operations.

Non-court activities are funded by a combination of tax dollars and the fees allowed by state statute to be charged by the Clerk for those activities. Any fees collected for non-court activities that are in excess of those needed to fund the non-court activity operations of the Office are returned to the Board of County Commissioners to offset the tax dollars allotted to the Clerk’s office at the start of each fiscal year.
