Passport Fees

Many fines, fees, and costs for the Clerk’s Office may be paid by cash, check (cashier’s or personal), money order, or with a credit card. Credit cards accepted are Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express. The only debit cards which will be accepted are those with the Visa or MasterCard logo. The financial service provider charges a nominal, non-refundable fee for each credit card transaction.

NOTE: We do not accept cashier’s checks dated more than two (2) months from the issue date.

The U.S. Department of State does not accept cash or credit card payments. Check and money order payments to the U.S. Department of State should be made payable to “U.S. Department of State.” Check and money order payments to the Clerk’s Office should be made payable to “Gary J. Cooney, Clerk of Court & Comptroller.”

*For passport renewals only: If certain U.S. Department of State criteria are met, individuals may mail a renewal application (Form DS-82) directly to the Department of State and will not incur the $35.00 fee to the Clerk of Court. To determine eligibility for mail-in renewal, visit the U.S. Department of State’s passport renewal page. (NOTE: The Clerk of Court is not permitted to execute Form DS-82 mail-in renewal forms.)

When renewing your passport, if you prefer to have your application checked for accuracy and mailed to the U.S. Department of State on your behalf, a $35.00 fee per application will apply, and Form DS-11 is required. (Note: For new passport applications, individuals must appear in person, use Form DS-11, and the $35.00 fee is required.)

All forms are available at any of the three Clerk’s Office passport processing locations, or can be downloaded from the U.S. Department of State website.

**A separate check per application is recommended by the U.S. Department of State.
