E-Recording

Electronic Recording, or E-Recording, is an efficient way to electronically submit documents such as deeds and mortgages to the Clerk of Court for recording in the Official Records of Lake County. E-Recording eliminates the need to mail or deliver documents to the courthouse, simplifying all aspects of the recording process.

E-Recording documents can be tracked through the entire process. Documents are typically recorded within one business day. Once the document is recorded, an image that includes the recording information can be immediately retrieved.

View the E-Recording frequently asked questions page for answers to questions about E-Recording documents.

E-Recording Documents

The most common documents that are E-Recorded are deeds, mortgages, assignments of mortgage, Notices of Commencement, and satisfactions of mortgage.

The following document types cannot be E-Recorded:

  • Condo Plat (CONDO)
  • Military Discharge/Separation (MIL)
  • Notice of Bond (NOT)
  • Notice of Contest of Lien (NCL)
  • Notice of Homestead (NOT)
  • Plat (PL)
  • Road Map (RM)
  • Transfer of Lien to Cash/Bond (TRA)

Documents must be scanned at 300 dots-per-inch (dpi), and be no larger than 8.5 inches x 14 inches. The documents must be legible and reproducible.

To E-Record a document, you must submit it through a third-party vendor. Begin by contacting one of the vendors listed below to sign up for E-Recording:
