Tax Deed Sales FeesMost fees may be paid by cashier’s check or money order. Cashier’s check and money order payments to the Clerk’s Office should be made payable to “Gary J. Cooney, Clerk of Court & Comptroller.” NOTE: We do not accept cashier’s checks dated more than two (2) months from the issue date. According to Florida Statutes 197.542(4)(a), a portion of an advance deposit from a winning bidder shall be subject to the fee under s. 28.24(10), which is 3% of the first $500 and 1.5% of any remaining amount greater than $500. For example, on a $1,250 auction deposit, the winning bidder’s advance deposit fee will be $26.25 (3% of $500 = $15 + 1.5% of the remaining $750 = $11.25). This fee will be included in the winning bidder’s total amount due after the sale.
