Indigent Status

If you are found to be indigent, filing fees and charges for the issuance of a summons for your court case will be waived. In compliance with Florida law, the Clerk has been delegated the authority to determine if someone is unable to make payment in full. You will be responsible for service fees, copy fees, and notary fees if needed. The Lake County Clerk’s Office offers payment plans for those who have difficulty paying.

If you are seeking a waiver or a deferment of payments, you will need to complete an application form prior to filing your case, and submit it to the Central Intake Section, located in the Lake County Courthouse, 550 W. Main St., First Floor, East Wing, Tavares, FL 32778.
