Traffic Division

The Traffic Division maintains all records and collects payments relating to civil traffic tickets/citations issued in Lake County.  The Division also collects payments for Criminal matters, as well as manages payment plans.

Traffic citations fall within one of two categories, Civil and Criminal. Criminal traffic citations are handled within the Criminal Division. View more information on Criminal Traffic Citations.

Traffic Citations (Civil):

A civil traffic citation is issued for a non-criminal violation that can usually be disposed of by payment of the civil penalty (fine) or by electing to attend a defensive driving course. Infractions generally can be categorized as:

• Pedestrian violations, such as jaywalking,
• Non-moving violations, such as not wearing a seat belt, and
• Moving violations, such as speeding.
