Risk Protection Order

The Lake County Clerk of the Circuit Court & Comptroller’s Office processes petitions for Risk Protection Orders filed in Circuit Court.

If you believe someone poses a significant danger to themselves or others, and they have access to firearms or ammunition, you are encouraged to contact local law enforcement.

Only law enforcement may ask a court to enter a Risk Protection Order against someone.
