Circuit Criminal (Felony)

The Circuit Criminal Section performs services related to felony cases.

An arrest on a felony offense means that the defendant is usually booked into the county jail. Most felony offenses are bondable according to the bail bond schedule.

A duty judge usually sees individuals arrested on criminal charge within 24 hours of the arrest. At first appearance, bond can be set, and the court determines whether the defendant is found to be indigent (unable to pay for counsel), and whether a Public Defender will be appointed.

If a defendant fails to appear for a scheduled court date, the judge may issue a capias (warrant) for their arrest. The Clerk’s Office cannot reveal any outstanding warrant information.

To obtain warrant information, contact the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.
