It depends on the specific language contained in the court order awarding support. Read your order carefully. If you believe that an event referred to in your order which causes support to terminate has occurred, contact the Clerk’s Office by mail at Lake County Clerk’s Office, ATTN: Child Support, P.O. Box 7800, Tavares, FL 32778, or by phone at (352) 742-4140. If you believe child support should be terminated by the occurrence of an event not included in the court order, you, or your attorney, may need to file a request to modify the court order. Your child support payments should be mailed to the Florida State Disbursement Unit at P.O. Box 8500, Tallahassee, FL 32314. Your payments must include your case number, Lake County, and party names. Payment records are available at the cost of $1 per year. You may visit the Lake County Courthouse, 550 W. Main St., East Wing, First Floor, Tavares if same day service is needed. If same day service is not needed, you may submit your request and payment by mail, along with a self-addressed, stamped envelope, to Lake County Clerk of Circuit Court & Comptroller, Attn: Domestic Relations, P.O. Box 7800, Tavares, FL 32778-7800. For records prior to 1995, you may also visit the Lake County Courthouse, 550 W. Main St., East Wing, First Floor, Tavares, but you must submit your request in writing. If you want the records mailed to you, you must provide a self-addressed stamped envelope. If making this request by mail, you may submit your request and payment and self-addressed, stamped envelope to Lake County Clerk of Circuit Court & Comptroller, Attn: Domestic Relations, P.O. Box 7800, Tavares, FL 32778-7800. To make changes to the record, the Clerk’s Office must receive notice of the change in writing. You can download the Information Change Request Form (PDF), and file it with the Domestic Relations Section at 550 W. Main St., East Wing, First Floor, Tavares. You may also update your information through the online portal. Always remember to include your case number on any correspondence. The Lake County Clerk’s Office has no enforcement authority. You will need to contact a private attorney, or the Florida Department of Revenue, Child Support Program, for assistance. If your case is contracted with the Florida Department of Revenue, you may call (850) 488-KIDS (5437). You will be asked for your social security number and security code. The security code will be the two-digit year and the two-digit day of your birth. If your case is not contracted with the Florida Department of Revenue, you may call the Florida State Disbursement Unit at (877) 769-0251. You will need to have your social security number available. You may call the Clerk’s office regarding payment information once every seven days at (352) 742-4140. View Payment Information Online: To view your last five payments online, visit https://www.paykidz.com. You will need to have your case number and social security number. Yes, as long as your case is not contracted with the Florida Department of Revenue. To have your child support payment deposited directly into your bank account, you must complete a Direct Deposit Form (PDF) and return it to the Lake County Clerk’s Office, ATTN: Child Support, 550 W. Main St., East Wing, First Floor, Tavares, FL 32778. Payments made directly to the Florida State Disbursement Unit (SDU) are remitted the following business day. If payment is made at the Lake County Clerk’s Office, it must be transmitted to the SDU first for processing, and the payment is remitted to the recipient the second business day. The Florida State Disbursement Unit was established by Florida law and provisions included within the Federal Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act of 1999 (commonly known as the Welfare Reform Act). Under this system, payments are sent to the Florida State Disbursement Unit, where they are processed and then issued to receiving families. A court order is required to initiate payment through the Clerk’s Office.
