Understanding Your Summons

If you have been selected as a potential juror to serve on a jury for an upcoming trial, you will commonly receive a jury summons in the mail three weeks in advance. The selection of potential jurors to summon for jury service is random and based on the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles’ records.

Your printed jury summons includes a group number which can be found below your PIN located on the left front side of your jury summons, along with a badge number, located below the barcode. This group number and badge number identifies you as a juror, and can be used to check your reporting status, request for an excusal or deferment, and to update your name and address.

You can view a sample jury summons, or if you have questions related to your jury summons, you can contact the Jury & Evidence Division at (352) 742-4160.
