Tax Deeds

The Tax Deeds Section of the Official Records Division manages the tax deed sales for the Lake County Clerk of the Circuit Court & Comptroller.

Tax Certificates are sold annually by the Lake County Tax Collector’s Office for properties that have delinquent taxes. After a minimum of two years have elapsed, and upon request of the certificate holder for a tax deed sale, the certificate is forwarded to the Clerk’s Office, and a tax deed sale is held. The highest bidder will be issued a tax deed on the property.
